The cornershops of Brussels are the backbone of inner city shopping. Beeing pretty dense in the city centre there are not many big supermarkets in every quarter, whereas you will find a cornershop in a radius of 500 meter almost everywhere. They all have the byname 'Alimentation Generale'. With their distinctive shades above the fruit & vegetable racks they're hard to miss.

This ongoing project documents the vast amount of shops you find around Brussels. It's shot on a halframe camera mostly.
